At 18 your like wow dude I just got my Licence to drive...I can drink booze...I don't have a job...why get married? I often come across teenagers 16 with babies....not good.

Sweetstuff, According to books on weather cycles I read, the global temp. has changed many times over a few thousand years resulting in some extinction and changes. There were many Ice ages and global warmings. {Frozen Mammoths in tropical Siberia???} Scientific speculation that New York and half the planet will be under water has no basis in fact whatsoever...{Like 607 b.c.e and the Witnesses}where's the data? How did you come to this conclusion? How can you measure such a thing? I think many years from now, when your kids have had their own families, you will look back and say....ya Know that 007 was right!! How did I get suckered into another end of the world scam?

Am I being Horrible?
by LouBelle inright so it's time to buy christmas gifts and the like - which is great - i do love giving.
now i don't usually give to get back.....but some of my so called mates just seem to like taking and taking..... this one guy - i'm mates with his sister and we have gotten to know each other and i'd say we have become friends - when it was his birthday (my first invite) i got him a really unique quirky gift, then came christmas and i got him 2 gifts and added a fun aspect to it, his birthday rolled around again this year and i got him another nice gift.. me: i got a card for chrismtas and he went halvies on a cheap book with his sister for my birthday.
so this year i'm not getting him anything, his sister comes to me and asks if i'm getting anything for him, so i said no - he'll be getting a card from me, she looked a lil stunned.. i do feel a lil bad but i'm tired of always giving and giving and giving and giving - hell he even forgot about my christmas party this weekend.

Lou, if you become just a little selfish you may find people will notice...if they ask why explain, otherwise do as they do. I found with "Witness" friends, inviting them over many times to dinner parties was NEVER returned to me or my wife so I just gave up. If they want selfish I'll show them whose king!!

Going to Walt Disney World - Any suggestions?
by kwintestal inwe're bringing our 9 and 7 year old kids to disney over the x-mas break this year.
it's actually going to be their gifts and they don't know we're going.
just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what to see or do there or what to avoid.. something else we just found out, since they cancelled the space shuttle launch the other day, they may be doing it on jan. 2, i'm excited about possilbly going to see it!

Self Deceit and Faith.
by hillary_step inthis thread is inspired by a comment made on another thread, but i thought it would make an interesting discussion.. self deceit is described as a "misconception that is favorable to the person who holds it".
my premise is that faith is a form of self-deceit - lying to oneself.. so, i would ask of the "faithful" the following questions and would request that they be read carefully to ensure no that there is no misunderstanding of purpose.. 1) in what way is faith not self-deception?.
2) is a person who has faith in a god that you do not believe in, say for example siva, practicing a form of self-deception?.

Unemployed? That's more time for the ministry!

i was recently unemployed for a couple of months and all i get is these comments.
better to do with my time than waste it knocking on doors trying to recruit.

One zealous Elder I knew delivered frozen food for a living so he could spend more time Witnessing. He was an Engineer or something technical before the truth. I was shocked when he admitted on stage that he suffers from depression...no wonder, his car is worth $800 Dollars and his wife and kids dont have much. He told me he should go back to his old work as it was less stress for more money, but...THE KINGDOM, WHO WILL PREACH ABOUT THE KINGDOM. I get so angry at this!

Somebody hurt my baby! :S
by Elsewhere inonce again someone hurt nancy, my little mini cooper.
this time they popped the front driver side window, broke it all out, stole my tomtom gps, ripped apart the center console and tore up the 12 volt plug while ripping the gps power cable out.
the police came out and did the whole fingerprint thing and got a few bits and pieces of some prints, but we won't know if anything will come of it.

Merging Congregations
by wizardca ini had dinner tonight with my jdub family.
my sister commented how their congregation is shrinking by leaps and bounds...they are getting about 50 people attending the watchtower/public talk on sundays.
one of their elders is moving out of the area and rumors abound they may merge with another cong due to low attendance.

JW's in Coffee Shop Using ME as a Lesson to their Children

i already know jw's believe they are better than everyone else, what with being god's only chosen people and all that.. well, i am sitting at my table, minding my own business.
